Stephanie and Scott had their ceremony and reception at the La Venta Inn, this is a beautifully restored Spanish villa built in the 1920’s. We had a nice sunset so I took the couple out of the reception for ten minutes to get some wonderful sunset shots. One of my favorite things about being a wedding photographer is hearing great toasts, which Stephanie and Scott had several of. I always enjoy capturing the expressions of the bride and groom as the toasts are being made.

Mimi + Bradley by Karen French Photography Engagements

I wanted an urban feel for Mimi and Bradley shoot because they are a hip couple. Bradley also has an artistic edge and brought props. Abbot Kinney Boulevard and the Venice canals turned out to be the perfect locations. We also applied  Photoshop techniques on some of the images to give them a gritty feeling. Bradley’s a skateboarder so we did some fun blur effects. I like to add movement to a picture because it adds another visual dimension.

Wedding Photographer Karen French- Katie + RJ Pelican Hill

Black and white photos by Top Wedding Photographer Karen French have an elegant, timeless look. A few years ago, “vintage” effects became popular washed out photos with a yellow or blue tint. I’m hearing a lot of talk  lately  among my colleagues in professional photography that these  vintage effects are already “so 2010.”

While KFP offers vintage effects and we do them well, I always let my clients know that such photos  will looked dated in just a few years. If you want a timeless look, go  black and white. It’ll  always be in style.

Katie is a professional public speaker and her innate confidence reflects in the photographs we took that day.

Couples often get overwhelmed in the details of their wedding. Katie & RJ focused more on having a great time with their family and friends. A relaxed, fun atmosphere results in memorable pictures.

Terranea Resort – Wedding Photos – Karen French Photography

We did a “first look” shot of wedding photos with Kelly and Jim that really turned out special. We positioned Jim looking out over the cliffs and toward the ocean, then Kelly walked up to him from behind and tapped him on the shoulder. When Jim turned around, he was seeing Kelly for the first time in her wedding dress. Everyone watching, including me, became teary-eyed. First looks offer great opportunities for photos and create a very intimate and emotional experience for a couple. We got more great shots that day because Kelly was truly a happy and glowing bride. The bridal party dressed at the Terranea Resort. The ceremony was at Wayfarers Chapel, the famous glass church on the Palos Verdes Peninsula, then on to gorgeous La Venta Inn for the reception. This wedding was a photographer’s dream as all three of these locations are favorites of mine.
